Based on the first phase of the Ultra transition in Fall 2024, we learned:

  1. Instructors requesting to convert to Ultra via this Course Copy/Restore form should expect significantly longer wait times (multiple days? could be specific).

  2. Courses converted to Ultra via this Course Copy/Restore form result in more conversion issues and remediation time needed by instructors.

HuskyCT admins learned that a direct conversion of an Original course to Ultra Course View may result in some issues that require further remediation throughout the semester. We recommend that you build your new Ultra course from scratch. You can copy pieces of content from your Original courses if needed.

Recommended Alternative

If your course is not already using Ultra Course View, it is recommended that you rebuild your upcoming Ultra course using Copy Content and other course building tools within Ultra (see resources below). This will result in:

  • Faster copying of course materials into your HuskyCT Ultra course site.

  • Fewer Ultra conversion issues.

Details on who should do this and how follow the sections below.

Tip

You do not need to rebuild your course if it is already using Ultra.

Bulk converting Converting an existing Original course to Ultra is only recommended for faculty:

  • whose Whose Original course version uses a simple/basic design and does not use many Blackboard tools and featureswho , especially in regards to exams.

  • Who have a detailed understanding of the conversion process and are prepared to address conversion issues and content remediation.

It is the experience of the HuskyCT Admin team that faculty who converted their Original courses to Ultra experienced more issues than those who built their courses Ultra course content from scratch. Therefore, this is not a recommended process for most faculty. The guide below documents the process should you decide that you would like to do this.
