There are certain technological limitations in OneDrive and SharePoint. Note that unless stated, the limit applies to both OneDrive and SharePoint.

OneDrive App - Sync
OneDrive has a “soft limit” of 300,000 items. This means sync tasks of that although you are allowed to have more than 300,000 files will work, but items in your OneDrive, exceeding that number will greatly slow down the application and possibly cause it to crash.
