Requirement: A Mac desktop or *laptop running OSX, At least 32GB of free drive space (either internal or external). Root access, Windows 10 ISO from uconn.onthehub.com or Microsoft DreamSpark.

*Note: Users with M3 or other dual core processors may experience less than expected performance.

On the device you wish to use to host your learning environment open a web browser and go to https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

Download the latest version of Oracle VirtualBox for the operating system on your host device.

For example if you have a Macbook Pro download the latest version of Oracle VirtualBox for OS X hosts.

Go to your Downloads folder and double click on the VirtualBox disk image file (dmg) you just downloaded.

Double click on the VirtualBox.pkg icon.

Click Continue.

When prompted enter your administrator’s credentials.

Click Install Software.

 

When the installation completes open your Applications folder.

Click on the VirtualBox icon.

 

Click the New Icon.

Enter a name for the virtual machine in the “Name:” field.

In the “Type:” dropdown box select “Microsoft Windows

In the “Version:” dropdown box select “Windows 10 (64-Bit)
