  • For example

    • The Group Set will be named “Discussion Groups”

    • The groups will be named Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, etc.

  1. From the Groups tab, click Import Group Set.

  1. Return to the Groups tab, and click Import Group Set.

Step 2A: Retrieve Student NetIDs from Student Admin

  1. Login to Student Admin, and navigate to the Class Roster page.

  2. Download the student roster csv file which contains student NetIDs.

Step 2B: Use Group Set Template to Assign Group members

  • Group Code* 

    • Groups codes are unique alphanumeric identifiers used only for import purposes. Group codes provide a unique way to identify each group in case they have the same name. You can assign any group you want.

    • If you already created the group set using a CSV file, keep the Group Code same for each group.

  • User Name*

    • The NetID of the student you’re assigning to a group.

  • Group Set

    • The group set name as it shows in the Groups page.

Save as a CSV file

  1. Open your Excel file.

  2. Click File on the top menu.

  4. Click the dropdown arrow for the file type options.

  5. Choose CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv).

Import Group sets

To import group sets:

Navigate to your HuskyCT Ultra course.

On the top navigation menu, click Groups.

Click Import Group Set at right top corner.

Click Upload File and select your CSV file.

Click Import.

You will get a blue text box that says ‘Large files may take longer to upload. You’ll receive a confirmation email when the upload is complete.’

Once you get a confirmation email from Blackboard, refresh the page to check the Groups pages.

Assign Group Members

To assign group members:

  1. Navigate to your HuskyCT Ultra course.

  2. On the top navigation menu, click Groups.

  3. Click a group set.

    Using the Group Set Template created in Step 1, delete the Self Enroll and Description columns and add a Username column.

  4. Populate the Group Code and User Name columns to assign students to a group.

    1. Group Code: This should be the same for all members of a group.

      1. For example, students in Group 1 should all have the same Group Code.

    2. User Name: list the NetIDs of the students you want to assign to a group.

  5. Save your file when finished.

Step 3: Upload Group Members

  1. From you Ultra course, click the Groups tab from the top navigation menu.

  2. Click the Group set name.

  3. Click the Import Groups or Members icon on in the top right top corner.

  4. Choose Select the Assign members tap tab.

  5. Click Upload File and select your CSV file.

  6. Click Then click Import.

  7. You After a few minutes refresh your course page and students will be able to check the students are assign in the assigned to their designated groups.
