Learning modules are one of two ways to organize content in Ultra. Similar to content folders, however, learning modules can be used to enforce sequential viewing of content, unlike a folder which lets students access the content in any order.

Folders are the primary organizational tool in Ultra. They can be used to store other items and other folders. Content folders can only be nested two levels deep.

The Document item is the primary way to build non-assessment content. It can be used to share information, resources, files, and other materials with students. The Document item type in Ultra is similar to the Item in Original.

1. Allows instructors to add content to the Document. Add Content allows instructor to enter text, add a file, or embed content from an integrated tool such as Kaltura. Add HTML allows instructors to enter HTML code to manually create content. Upload from Computer and Upload from Cloud Storage allows instructors to attach or link to a file from either their computer or a cloud platform such as Microsoft OneDrive.

2. Controls the items visibility, and can set release conditions on the item.

3. Access additional setting for the Document, such as allowing Class Conversations.

The link item type allows instructors to share web links with their students. Instructors can share links to a syllabus stored on Google Drive or OneDrive, share a web resource or content from the UConn Library.

2. The URL where the web link will point. In other words, the content that students will access when the click on the link.

The Teaching Tool with LTI Connection allows instructors to add tool links to a course for LTI tools such as Perusall.

3. Additional options for the tool link, including adding a gradebook entry to allow instructors to assess students using the tool.

SCORM Package allows instructors to add content that is available as a SCORM Package. If you have a SCORM package from an external source, such as a textbook provider, you can import it using this option.

The Test tool is the primary way for instructors to give online assessments or in person assessments using HuskyCT. Instructors can add questions, set time limits, and require online proctoring using Lockdown Browser.

2. Once a question is added, instructors can control the viability of a text entry box that is available to student at the end of the assessment. If no questions are added, the box is visible to students.

3. Allows instructors to access test settings, such as the timer, due date, and enabling Lockdown Browser for the test.

The Assignments tool is a way of assessing student learning without using a formal assessment. Unlike Original, instructors can add questions to assignment, or allow their students to enter a submission or upload a file.

1. Allows instructors to add questions to the assignment. This is different from original course view, which didn’t allow instructors to add HuskyCT questions such as multiple choice or fill in the blank questions to assignments.

2. Controls the visibility of the text submission box, if no questions are added, that option will be grayed out. The text submission box is similar to the Write Submission in Original Course View.

Forms can be used by instructors to receive student feedback or to learn about students' opinions and interests.

3. The plus sign allows instructors to create questions

4. Instructor can set the visibility of the form to either visible or hidden.

5. Four question types are able to be created

   1. Essay question: questions that students will type up a response to

   2. Likert question: questions that are answered using a scale, i.e. strongly agree, slightly agree, and disagree.

      

   3. Multiple Choice question: students will have the option to choose from a variety of set responses.

   4. True/False question: students respond to a statement with either True or false.

Discussion allows instructors to create discussion boards and have a link located in the main content area. The Discussion tool is used to facilitate class conversation and group discussions.

1. Instructors can post an initial comment to begin the discussion thread. Instructors can add text, files, or embed content.

2. Controls settings for the Discussion such as grading.

3. Controls the visibility of the Discussion.

The Journal tool allows instructors to create private spaces for students to reflect, provide feedback, or other commentary without the structure of a formal assignment or test. Student responses in a journal are only visible to the student and instructors, unlike discussions which are visible to the whole class or discussion group members.
