Ultra also provides participation and engagement tools. The following tools allow more interactive learning beyond traditional exams and assignments and can also be graded assessments.

Discussions Discussion allows instructors to create new discussion boards and have a link located in the main content area. The Discussion tool is a tool used to facilitate class conversation and group discussions. This is similar to the Discussion Board feature of Original Course View.

The Journals Journal tool allows instructors to create private spaces for students to reflect, provide feedback, or other commentary without the structure of a formal assignment or test. Student responses in a journal are only viable visible to the student and instructors, unlike discussions which are viable to other students as wellvisible to the whole class or discussion group members.
