- Open Remote Desktop Application
- Windows Start icon. Type RDP.
- Click on Remote Desktop Connection (Desktop app)
- In the Computer: Field enter the hostname and fully qualified domain name or IP address. This information will be provided by your system administrator.
- An example of the hostname and fully qualified domain name would be: L1BARCAAA111OPIM.business.uconn.edu
- An example of the IP address would be 137.99.111.111.
- In the Computer: Field enter the hostname and fully qualified domain name or IP address. This information will be provided by your system administrator.
- Click “Show Options”
- Click on the General Tab.
- Verify that the IP address or hostname with business.uconn.edu appended is entered in the Computer: field
- Enter your User name in the User Name: field The username will be provided by your system administrator.
- Click on the Display Tab.
- In the “Display configuration” section use the slider to adjust the screen size to a value that is appropriate for your display.
- Click on the Local Resources tab.
- Place a tick mark next to “Clipboard”
- Click “More” enable additional features.
- Select the resources you plan to use during remote desktop sessions.
- Click OK.
- Click on the Experience Tab
- The following settings are optimized for performance and are recommended.
- In the “Choose your connection speed to optimize performance.” dropdown select Modem (56kbps)
- In the Allow the following: section place a tick mark next to Font Smoothing.
- Also place a tick mark next to Persistent bitmap caching and Reconnect if the connection is dropped. Click on the Advanced Tab.
- Select the option to “Use these RD Gateway settngs
- In the Server name: field enter remote.business.uconn.edu
- In the Logon method: drop down box select Allow me to select later
- Place a tick mark next to Bypass RD Gateway server for local addresses.
- Click OK.
- Click on the General Tab
- Click Save As.
- Change the save location for the session to your Desktop.
- In the File name: field enter a name for the RDP session. For example “BARC-“ and the hostname provided by your system administrator.
- Click Save.
- Click Connect.
- Click Connect.
- When connecting remotely from an OFF-CAMPUS network there are two authentications required. If prompted look at the authentication request window.
If you plan to connect from off campus go to the Connect from anywhere section and click on Settings
RD Gateway Credentials
- Remote.business.uconn.edu is the remote gateway server it will prompt you for your business.uconn.edu credentials. Enter your school of business domain username and append @ business.uconn.edu. For example: jhusky@business.uconn.edu. Enter your password in the password field and click OK.
If prompted a second time enter the appropriate credentials for the virtual machine you are logging into.
