  1. Begin the Webex session.

First-Time Setup

Perform these steps at least 24 hours before your first Stream.

  1. Navigate to YouTube and sign in with your Google Account.

    1. You may sign in with either your UConn account or personal account

  2. In the top-right corner, there is the button to add media to YouTube represented by a camera with a plus sign inside of it. Press this button.

  3. Click Go live.

  2. You may have to verify your identity to YouTube by receiving a verification code.

    1. after verifying your account, you will be brought to a new web page, use the address bar to navigate back to youtube.com.

    2. Once you are back at the YouTube homepage, click on the camera icon again, then Go live again.

  3. You will be given the message: It takes 24 hours to activate your account for live streaming. Once activated, you can go live instantly.

  4. Return tomorrow to continue.

Live-Streaming your Webex Meeting or Event

  1. Navigate to YouTube and sign in with your Google Account.

  2. YouTube will ask for permission to use your Webcam and Microphone. Be sure to allow this.

  2. In the top-left, you will see that "Webcam" is currently selected. Click on Stream instead.

  2. Fill out the information of the Stream then click CREATE STREAM.

  2. Begin your Webex Meeting or Event. Click on the ellipsis button in the bottom row of buttons then click Start live streaming.

  4. Type in “YouTube Live.”

  5. Copy and paste the Stream URL from YouTube into the "Target stream link" box in the Webex window. 

  6. Copy and paste the Stream key from YouTube into the "Target stream key" box in the Webex window. 

  7. Be sure to choose 1920x1080 for the resolution.

  8. Click the arrow in the top-right corner to find the YouTube Stream Share link.

  9. Change streaming layouts if you would like to alter your livestream layout.

  10. Click the Start streaming button to connect Webex. This will not start the Youtube stream yet. You will soon see a preview of your Webex Meeting/Event in the top-left video player on the YouTube page.

  11. Once you see your Webex in the preview, you may then begin your YouTube stream by clicking GO LIVE in the top-right corner.

Monitoring the Stream on YouTube

  • Do not navigate away from the screen from the previous section of this guide. From there, you can monitor and end the Stream.

  • You may view the analytics of the stream, edit the information, and end the stream from this page.

    • You may also end the stream from within the Webex window. Click on the ellipsis button again and click Stop live streaming.

Initiating the Live-Stream of your Webex Meeting or Event

  1. Begin your Webex Meeting or Event.

  2. Click on the ellipses button in the row of button along the bottom of the Webex window. Click Start live streaming. Alternatively, you may click on the Meeting menu along the top toolbar and then click the same option.

  2. Log into Facebook using this popup window if you have not already gone through this process.

  3. Press Continue as [Your Name] if prompted.

  4. Click on Choose what you allow.

    1. If you would like to share as little data between Webex and Facebook as you can, you may disable all the allowances.

  5. Enter the Meeting/Event information and choose the visibility settings.

Running the Live-Stream

  • Once the Live-Stream is running, you will be brought back to your Webex Meeting Window. Continue your Meeting as per usual, utilizing the tools in the Webex Meeting window.

  • You do not need Facebook to be open in your web browser during the stream. If you chose to open it during your stream while you are sharing your screen, you will create the infinite window effect and the chat will be able to see itself as well.

  • You may mute your microphone and webcam as you would in a regular Webex Meeting/Event.

  • You may share your screen with the live-stream.

Removing the Webex Integration

  1. Navigate to Facebook and log in.

  2. Click on the drop-down arrow to open Settings.

  2. Click on Apps and Websites from the list on the left. Check the box of the App you would like to remove. Click Remove.

  2. Remove Webex and decide these next options:

    1. Click the top check box to remove all posts that were made by Webex if desired. This will include the posts of your concluded streams.

    2. Uncheck the bottom box so that you do not send a message to Cisco.

  1. Click Remove to finish removing the Webex integration.
