To use Adobe Reader for Mac, you need to set Adobe Reader as the default reader for PDFs on your computer.
Right-click a document.

Select Get info.
Click the Open with section if it is not already expanded.
Select Adobe Reader.
Click Change all.
Confirm your change when prompted to do so.
