Changing a Local User Password in macOS / OS X

Click the Apple icon on the upper left corner.
Click System Preferences.
Click Users & Groups in the System Preferences.
Select the user account for which you wish to add or change the password.
Click on the lock to make changes.
Click Change Password.

Info
To change an existing password, enter the old password followed by the new password twice. To create a new password, leave the old password field blank followed by the new password twice.

Click Change Password once all of the relevant fields are completed.
