  1. Open Notepad. To do so,
    1. Open the Windows Start Menu. 
    2. Type Notepad into the search box that appears.
    3. Select Notepad from the search results.

  3. Click on Open
  4. Select All Files. 
  5. Browse through your files find your downloaded transcript.
  6. Once the file is open, you can remove the timestamps manually, if desired.

    Tip

    The Audio Visual Technology Support (AVT) team has a computer script that autonomously removes all timestamps from the file. If you have many lines of text and find that manually removing Kaltura timestamps would not be feasible, contact AVT at avt@uconn techsupport@uconn.edu. In your email, you should write transcript edit in the subject line.


  7. When the file is ready to be converted, click on File.
  8. Select Save As
  9. At the end of the filename, type .txt (including the period).
  10. Verify that the Save as type: is Text Document.

  1. Open Microsoft Word.
  2. Click on Open.
  3. Select Browse.
  4. Navigate to your downloaded transcript.
  5. Open your downloaded transcript. It will be listed as a VTT file.
  6. Once the file is open, you can remove the timestamps manually, if desired.
