Faculty, staff , and students can use Webex, provided through ITS, as a telephone conference bridge, which enables a host to run a meeting, and guests to join a meeting, without a computer. A computer is still required if you would like to schedule the Meeting and to share the Meeting information. Note: This process uses telephone lines, not the Cisco Webex Meetings smartphone app.

    1. Navigate to the UConn WebEx Web Conferencing page.
    2. Click the green UConn Webex Login button.

    3. Click the blue Sign In button in the top-right corner of the window, as shown below.

    4. Enter your UConn NetID to sign in.


  2. Click on the More ways to join option on your home page once you have logged in to Webex. Doing so will bring up an information box. Here, you will find the phone number, access code, and host PIN number required for the telephone connection. Share the Access Code (sometimes referred to as Meeting Number) and phone number with those who will be calling in. Do not share the Host Pin.

  3.  To begin the Meeting:
    1. On a Computer 
      1. Click on the green Start a Meeting button to begin your Personal Room meeting from your PC and open it to callers,
        1. If you would like to use a phone, click on the audio options. It will likely say Use computer audio before you change it.
        2. Click on that button to change it to Call in. If you would like to use your computer's microphone and speakers, simply leave it as Use computer audio.
    2. By phone call
      1. To begin hosting the meeting by phone, call 1-415-655-0002.
        1. Follow the instructions to enter your Access Code/Meeting Number
        2. Follow the instructions to enter your Host PIN.
        3. The meeting will begin locked. Dial *5 to unlock your Personal Room to allow others to join.
        4. Dial *5 again to Lock the Room.
  4. To have others join your meeting, share the Access Code/Meeting Number found in the More ways to join pop-up menu (explained above).

  1. Schedule the conference as you would any other Meeting.

  2. When you are done scheduling, you will be directed to the meeting information page.  The The section at the bottom contains the important information.

    • Every meeting in Webex will have the same number to dial; it is the Access Code/Meeting Number that directs your call to the correct meeting.
    • You may share just the information circled, or you may use the Share button above to copy-and-paste all the information into an email or other communication.
  3. To start this meeting, click on the Start Meeting button when you are ready.

  • If you are the Host, see the section "Setting Up and Beginning the Phone Conference in Your Personal Room" above.
  • If you are not the Host, continue below:
  • Call the number above.
  • Enter the Access Code/Meeting Number
    • If you already know the Access Code/Meeting Number of the Meeting, dial the number above then wait for the voice to speak to you. It will ask you to enter the Access Code/Meeting Number and then press #
      • ex: 123 456 789#
    • If you do not know the Access Code/Meeting Number but have an invite link:
      • Open the email or other location where you received the Join Link, and click on the join link.
      • Cancel the download if it appears
      • Click on the information icon ⓘ at the top of the screen following the Meeting name to open the Meeting Information
      • In that pop-up you will find the Access Code/Meeting Number
    • If you do not know the Access Code/Meeting Number and do not have an invitation
  • Enter your Attendee ID
    • After entering the Access Code/Meeting Number, you will be asked to enter your Attendee ID. You may bypass this step by pressing the pound symbol on your keypad (#).
    • If you have already joined the Meeting with a computer, you can find your Attendee ID by clicking on ⓘ Meeting Information in the top-left corner. If you would like to switch to using your phone to transmit and receive audio only, take note of your Attendee ID and enter it when calling in. This will allow Webex to associate your phone number with your UConn Webex account for this meeting. Entering your Attendee ID will cause your name to appear in the Participants List with a phone icon next it, rather than just your phone number appearing appears in the list.
