Faculty, staff, and students can use Webex, provided through ITS, as a telephone conference bridge, which enables a host to run a meeting, and guests to join a meeting without a computer. A computer is still required if you would like to schedule the Meeting and to share the Meeting information. This process uses telephone lines, not the Cisco Webex Meetings smartphone app.

Warning

All Personal Rooms will start in a "locked" state.  If the Host is hosting their Personal Room using a phone line (either a landline or cell phone) they will need to dial *5 to unlock the Personal Room once they are in the Meeting to allow others to enter the Meeting. If you schedule the Meeting ahead of time, you will not have to worry about this.

For more information regarding Room Lock, review the article, Locking the Webex Room

Tip

A "Webex Meeting" and "Phone Conference" are one and the same; the use of one of these names depends on personal choice reflecting how the majority of users are joining. Therefore, phone conferences are scheduled in the same manor as Meetings. Any participant can join either through computer (internet) or phone (phone line), and they may switch back and forth during the Meeting.
