Instructors at UConn will be able to share Kaltura videos outside of HuskyCT. You first need to publish your page, and then you can get a link to the video that you can share.

Publish

Publishing Video

To publish a video, 

  1. Go to Kaltura.
  2. Click on the Guest drop down (upper right) and click.
  3. Click Log in. You will then be prompted to login with your NetID and NetID password. "Guest" should

  6. Click on the check boxes of video next to the videos you wish to share.
  7. Click Actions in the upper right of the screen and from .
  8. From the drop down menu, select Publish.

  9. Select Unlisted from the publish page to allow anyone viewership for the video. This Doing so will allow anyone you share the link with to view the content.

  10. Click Save to update the setting.  Then you can click Back
  11. Click the Back button.

  12. To get find the link to share with others, go to your media page.

Attaching Kaltura Media to Your HuskyCT Assignment

Once you have recorded or uploaded media into Kaltura, you can embed it in assignments using HuskyCT’s text editoreditor tool.

  1. Open the assignment and select “Write Submission” then “Kaltura Media” from .
  2. Select Write Submission and Kaltura Media from the Mashups drop-down.

titleDownloading Media from Kaltura

Scenario 1

You do not own the Media. 

If you wish to download media from Kaltura

If you

the owner of

the Media:Go to kaltura.uconn.edu or click

  1. Navigate to the Kaltura MediaSpace. Alternatively,

  2. At the top right, click Guest → Login and log .

  4. Click on the thumbnail of for the media you would like to download.
  5. Below the player, click on the tab that says the Download tab.
  6. Click the blue Download text next to one of the available formats based on your preference, and the . The content should start downloading to your computer.
    • If you do not see a download tab,
    please
    • contact the owner of the video and ask them to follow the guide below.
Note
If the recording includes the webcam and the content/desktop, the download will only include the content and the audio.  The webcam recording will not be downloaded.

Scenario 2

You do own the Media.

If

you are 

you wish to download media from Kaltura and you are the owner of

the Media:Go to kaltura.uconn.edu

that media, 

  1. Navigate to the Kaltura MediaSpace.
  2. At the top right, click Guest → Login and log .
  3. Log in using your NetID credentials. The Guest label should now be changed to your name.
  4. Click on your name and click .
  5. Click My Media.
  6. Find the media you wish to download, and click .
  7. Click on the pencil icon at the right of the screen to Edit edit the media.
  8. Below the player, click on the the Download tab that says Download.
  9. There is one option entitled Available Formats, click the check box named . Within this option, select the Source File  check box so that the box is checked.
  10. Click SaveClick Return to Media, which is right next to Save, to .
  11. To leave the edit screen and return to the viewing screen.You will now see a download tab that will allow you , click Return to Media (located next to the Save button). When the download tab appears, you will then be able to download the media.

Converting Your Video File to an Audio-Only File (Windows OS)

    • If you do not already have VLC Media Player installed, download it.

  • Click on Media

  • Select Convert/Save

    1. Alternatively, you can hit Ctrl + R on your keyboard.
