Users may edit the transcript on the same screen that they view it from. When viewing your transcript, simply hover your cursor over the text block that you would like to edit. Type in your edits, then click Save.
Downloading the Transcript
The transcript may be downloaded along with the Recording as a separate file. The transcript will download in the .vtt file type. If you want to upload this transcript into another program that supports .vtt files, you are all set to do so. If your program does not support .vtt files, you can easily convert the transcript to a .txt or .doc file using Notepad and Microsoft Word respectively.
Note: If you would like to upload the transcript into Kaltura, you must remove the time stamps from each line. Kaltura has an auto-alignment feature that negates the need for the timestamps. Consequently, the time stamps will
Converting to text file (.txt)
- Open Notepad by opening your Windows Start Menu and typing in Notepad.
- File → Open → All Files → browse to find the downloaded transcript.
- Once the file is open, you may remove the timestamps manually. If you have many lines of text and find that manually removing the timestamps (for Kaltura) would be not possible, please reach out to avt@uconn.edu with "transcript edit" in the subject. This IT department has a computer script that autonomously removes all the timestamps from the file within a minute.

- At the end of the filename, type .txt (including the period) and make sure the Save as type: is Text Document.
- The new text file is ready to be uploaded/used with other programs, such as Kaltura.
