titleAttach Kaltura Media to your HuskyCT assignment

Once you have recorded or uploaded media into Kaltura, you can embed it in assignments using HuskyCT’s text editor.

  1. Open the assignment and select “Write Submission” then “Kaltura Media” from the Mashups drop-down.

2. Once the My Media window opens, select an existing video from your My Media tab.

3. After pressing select, the video will now appear back in the text box where you can submit your content.


You can select where the video is shared in your course.

  1. To share a video in your course go to the content area where you want to share the video.
  2. Click on Build Content > Kaltura Media.
  3. Select your video and enter the HuskyCT fields then click Submit.

This article is intended to help UConn students and faculty download media from Kaltura. 

If you are not the owner of the Media:

  1. Go to kaltura.uconn.edu or click on the link the to video shared with you and skip to Step 5
  2. At the top right, click Guest → Login and log in using your NetID credentials.
  3. The Guest label should now be changed to your name.
  4. Click on the thumbnail of the media you would like to download.
  5. Below the player, click on the tab that says Download.
  6. Click the blue Download text next to one of the available formats based on your preference, and the content should start downloading to your computer.
    1. If you do not see a download tab, please contact the owner of the video and ask them to follow the guide below.

If the recording includes the webcam and the content/desktop, the download will only include the content and the audio.  The webcam recording will not be downloaded.

If you are the owner of the Media:

  1. Go to kaltura.uconn.edu
  2. At the top right, click Guest → Login and log in using your NetID credentials.
  3. The Guest label should now be changed to your name. Click on your name and click My Media.
  4. Find the media you wish to download, and click on the pencil icon at the right of the screen to Edit the media.
  5. Below the player, click on the tab that says Download.
  6. There is one option entitled Available Formats, click the check box named Source File so that the box is checked.
  7. Click Save
  8. Click Return to Media, which is right next to Save, to leave the edit screen and return to the viewing screen.
  9. You will now see a download tab that will allow you to download the media.
